Jamaica Bay Delay — 7/1/2015

Gateway National Recreation Area announced that release of the preferred alternative for the rehabilitation of the West Pond—originally scheduled for this past June—has been delayed until at least August because a few additional "unanticipated studies" were needed. Not that anyone needs to be reminded, but the third anniversary of Hurricane Sandy is approaching, and nothing has been done at the West Pond.

A few weeks ago Senator Schumer announced that he is in favor of additional federal monies for Gateway, including funds for the full restoration of the West Pond’s freshwater habitat. The link to the senator's released press statement can be found below as well as on the main webpage.
