Please note:  Before being considered for membership, each new applicant must be sponsored by a current member of the Society.   If you do not know members of the Society already, you can meet some of us at our meetings or field trips.  Often it does not take long to find a member to sponsor  you, once when we get to know you.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

The Linnaean Society of New York, more than 125 years old, serves both amateurs and professionals with an interest in natural history, especially ornithology and birding.  We offer a program of regular meetings with speakers on natural history, birding and conservation subjects and a program of field trips.  We publish a regular News-Letter and occasional journals.  The Society is governed by its Council of officers and elected councilors.

Membership is open to people interested in the natural sciences.  Each applicant for membership must be proposed by a member of the Society.  Applications are considered by the Council and, when approved, applicants stand for election to membership at regular meetings.  Annual dues for active members are $35.00.

Our meetings are open to the public and nonmembers are welcome on our field trips, so long as space is available.  If you are interested in the Society, we encourage you to attend our meetings and go on our field trips.  As you get to know the Society and its members, you will find a member to sponsor your application for membership.

Membership applications cannot be accepted without a sponsor and a check.
