Dale Dyer is currently painting all of the illustrations for a book on the birds of Central America, a project currently in its eighth year. At the October 20th regular meeting of the Linnaean Society of New York he will give a preview of the book, and he will discuss the process involved in researching and executing the artwork.
He will also talk about the birding experiences that have inspired and informed the project. Dale is an artist and a scientific illustrator specializing in birds. He is also a New York City–area birder. Over the last 20 years he has produced illustrations for books on the birds of Peru, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, North America, and the state of New York. He studied at the Art Students League of New York, and is currently a Field Associate in the Ornithology Department at the American Museum of Natural History.
