The Membership Portal will confirm receipt of your application by email, along with a suggested password (which you can change).

Once your application is received, the board of directors will put it to a vote by LSNY’s members at their monthly meeting. (The process, we assure you, is much less intimidating than it sounds.) We will then confirm your membership by sending you a welcome packet, which includes a schedule of events (lectures, field trips, etc.).

Active, supporting, associate and life members vote to elect the Society’s officers and directors. The Society’s program year begins in September, and renewal dues are payable that month. Membership applications are not reviewed during June, July, and August.

Membership dues support the activities of the Society, including its meetings, field trips, and the production of publications. The Society is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Dues are tax-deductible as provided by law.
